Welcome to my personal web page. |
|---|
This site was mainly constructed so i can keep a personal record of my catch , pictures , personal bests etc...
below is a brief summary about my main type of fishing and specific gear i use :
Random pictures while out shore fishing.
I fish mainly Rock marks around the East Coast of Scotland, target species mainly Cod and Pollack , resulting in a few Specimen Fish .
Pollack fishing for me starts early April until the cold weather arrives then onto Cod fishing over the cold winter months....
Pollack fishing :
In my personal experience i've found either float fishing ragworm or Mackerel strips or spinning various coloured jelly worms are most productive.

Pollack are quick and powerful fish so a powerful rod is required too keep them away from the ledges,
Heavy / rough ground pollack spinning gear :
Conoflex Phantom XL 45 & Penn 525 Super Mag Extra.
Cod fishing :
Due to the rough ground nature of Cod fishing , heavier gear and tackle helps land that important Double figure Cod !!!
Rigs : Pulley or Pulley Pennel rigs is my main rig choice but occasionally Running ledgers will be used if conditions allow.
Rig setup : 80 lb Sakuma rig body, Amnesia 30 - 40 lb snoods , Sakuma hooks 4/o & 5/o occasionally upto single 7/o .
Baits : Lug , Rag , Mackerel , Razorfish , Sandeels , Mussels , Peeler crab or Squid baits .
17 lb Shore caught Cod
returned after quick picture.
Rough ground Cod gear :
Conoflex Rakata & Sl30sh .
Century WR300 & Sl30sh .
Both these rods are very powerful and can easily cope with the rough ground, coupled with fast retrieve slosh reels loaded with 35 lb mono , ideal setup for my main type of fishing.
Beach Fishing :
I've very limited knowledge about beach fishing , so at the moment only target Flounders , fishing mainly 1 down rig , size 1 sakuma hook with a few beads above the baited hook for added attraction .
beach gear :
Conoflex Phantom & sl20sh
Zziplex 3500 & sl20sh
Plugging / Spinning :
I've basically no idea on plugging or light spinning , but i have recently purchased some basic tackle too get me started, a light spinning rod rated at 15 - 40 grams , so im intending on a few sessions through-out the year, i will slowly learn from my mistakes and hopefully i will be adding some other fish species / pics too my list.
Light gear :
Shimano beastmaster 270 spin & Shimano Stradic 4000 fb .
** note **
1 , Fish : i only keep a few fish i intend too eat or use as bait , all others are handled and returned safely .
2 , Fishing marks : I intend too keep the area's i fish, clean and tidy, so all off my litter is bagged and binned .
